Vitamin B12 and folate are required to maintain normal red blood cell formation and nucleic acid (DNA, RNA) synthesis, and folate helps prevent changes to DNA. Vitamin B12 is additionally required to maintain neurological function, and functions as a cofactor for methionine synthase and L-methylmalonyl- CoA mutase. Folate is also required for the proper function of methionine synthase, which catalyzes the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, and helps maintain normal levels of homocysteine. Methionine is required for the formation of S-adenosylmethionine, a universal methyl donor for almost 100 different substrates, including DNA, RNA, hormones, proteins, and lipids. L-methylmalonyl-CoA mutase converts L-methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA in the degradation of propionate, an essential biochemical reaction in fat and protein metabolism.
Use this product once daily to ensure adequate intake of vitamin B12 and folic acid. Do not exceed 3 servings per day.
