Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches? Try these bars instead!

Kimberly Hembree

One of my all time favorite foods before bariatric surgery was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I could eat them all day every day. As a weight loss surgery patient, the heavy carbs in a sandwich can be extremely painful and hard to eat. Plus, the sugar found in most jellies should be avoided.

BariatricPal’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars are my all time favorite treat. When you bite into the chocolate bar, there is a very smooth peanut butter flavor that is complemented with strawberry jelly. It is delicious! Why hurt your diet with a sandwich when you can have this amazing protein bar that offers 12g of protein? One bar has only 170 calories, 6g fat, 8g sugar, 16g carbs and 12g protein. This is a great bar to add into your diet, especially if you are having trouble hitting your protein goals. On top of all the protein it offers, it also has 15% of your daily value of Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Having bars like these on hand are great for bariatric patients. I struggle sometimes with low blood sugar, so I keep these on me at all times. It also prevents me from going through a drive thru when I know I have a bar on me. They are a great snack, or even meal replacement when you are in a hurry. Give it a shot and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
